Glucagon is an emergency treatment for hypoglycaemia.

Quick Reference: Children below 25kg (55.1 lb) give half a syringe (0.5ml); Adults and children over 25kg (55.1 lb) give the whole syringe content  (1ml).

The injection is given into the muscle or subcutaneous fat tissue.  Glucagon is used in people with hypoglycaemia who cannot take food by mouth, usually because they are semi conscious or unconscious due to hypoglycaemia. The carer or a family member of person with diabetes on insulin should see and be familiar with this video, well before glucagon injection is needed.
